I love this!! So I had to post it.
I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best." Marilyn Monroe...
On to the purpose to this post. I started the Get Fit at the Y on January 11th. It is a lot of work tracking all your foods into their computer program, but you can learn alot so hopefully it will pay off. I didn't realize that we had to weigh in each week, so that is another plus. I did not lose any weight the first week but I did not gain any either so that is a plus. What I learned about my food is that I eat way to much salt/sodium. The RDA is 1500mg, some days I was 4000-5000mg. This is NOT GOOD. That seemed to be the consensus with the whole group. This week one of our tasks is to monitor sodium more and try to get all "A's" for the week. Yes, this program grades you. One of our other tasks was to take a mind/body class. yoga? Are you kidding me? I sucked it up last night and took the Body Flow class it is a combination of Tai Chi, yoga and Pilate's, with relaxation and meditation at the end. The instructor made me be in the front of the class, I almost left. I found that I actually enjoyed it and will try to continue to go. The only thing that I HATED was I had to use one of their mats and the fact that bare feet had been on it prior to me totally grossed me out. You have to take your shoes and socks off for this class, which is just gross to me. I HATE FEET!!!!!! I will have to invest in a cheap mat.
Last night was a LONG night at the gym, I did the Body Flow from 5:30-6:30 then did 20 minutes on the elliptical then did Body Pump from 7:10-8:10. I was so ready to come home. Might I add that in the Body Flow class their was a lady that was 9 months pregnant, hoping to have the baby any day and in Body Pump the instructor was 8 months pregnant. What, are you kidding me? This just goes to show these classes can be done by anyone!!!!!!

Huge Reality check!!!
Last night I had a date night with my husband. We went to a movie and out for a bite to eat. I had went to the gym before we went out. I got in 30 minutes on the elliptical which was a little over 350 calories burned. I was suppose to go to Body Pump , but that didn't happen. I came home showered and much to my dismay, tried to find something to wear. After 2 pair of jeans, which were rather tight I choose to wear the jeans that have some stretch in them for more room. I hate these jeans!!!! Yet I had no choice, the others would have been way to uncomfortable to sit through a movie. That should be a wake-up call!!!! It was but since we were at the movie how was I to pass up the popcorn with extra butter and the hamburger and fries we ate after the show. Then a quick stop at Wal-mart where I grabbed a bag of peanut m&m's, why yes, it was the "big bag" for a buck!! When we got home I thought " wouldn't a beer be great with these". So I had a beer. To my disappointment it did not taste that good, nor did the m&m's. I finished the whole beer and only half the m&m's. "Like that should be a plus". Off to bed to dream about all my bad choices for the day.
Saturday, I am up the sun is out and I am geared for a great day. So far I have went to the gym, I did 25 minutes on the elliptical and then off to body pump, wow, that was another reality check. OUCH!! Done with the gym, off to tan and a massage at 4.
I have put in all my foods that I have eaten so far today for my Get Fit plan as well.
I am, even if I have to padlock the cupboards shut going to finish out my day eating what I am suppose to!!!
Here is a recipe that I made the other night. Italian Pizza Bake
1/3cup Bisquick- heart smart mix
2Tbsp Fat-free egg product or 1 egg white
1Tbsp water
1/8 tsp garlic powder
1/4 cup diced green or yellow peppers
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup cooked chicken breast
1/2 can diced tomatoes with Italian herbs, drained
1/4 tsp Italian seasoning
1/4 cup shredded reduced fat mozzarella cheese
Heat oven to 400 spray 8x4 loaf pan. Stir Bisquick, egg, water and garlic powder, spread in pan
Cook pepper and onion , stir in chicken, tomatoes and seasoning, heat until hot. Spread over batter in pan
sprinkle with cheese. Bake 20-23 minutes or until golden brown, loosen from sides of pan
2 servings, 1 serving half the recipe= 200 calories, 6g Fat, 35mg cholesterol and 490mg of sodium
Of course I had to adjust this so my family would eat it so here goes. First I don't know where you get a loaf pan this size so I used a regular loaf pan so I doubled the crust mixture, I left out the peppers, and onions. I used about 1/2 cup spaghetti sauce instead of the can tomatoes. I also used fat-free mozzarella cheese.
It was really good. I doubled the crust so that it would cover the bottom of the pan, you might not need to as it rises, which I did not realize. So ours was sort of like a deep dish pizza crust. We cut it into 4 slices (like you would cut meatloaf) we each had one and there was one left over. Obviously changing a few things changes the nutritional info, but it still was a good healthy meal. I would try putting some sort of vegetable in it next time maybe, Spinach for me or corn for my family!!!

What to do?
Since my last post I have eaten so-so and have went to the gym 3 times, I am ok with this.
This is my newest hang-up. For the last few days I have been searching through cookbooks to find healthy things to make. I am not opposed to trying new things, however my family is a different story. I want to stay away from pasta if I can, yet I can't seem to find recipes with things that they will eat that doesn't include pasta or rice. They will eat pasta but not rice.
I don't want to make healthy choices for myself and them just eat whatever, but I get so frustrated trying to figure out what we are going to eat. Shopper Hopper, if you still belong to this blogging community you can be my witness for this dilemma. How many suggestions did you give me for what you would make when we came for Christmas? A bunch, how many would my family eat? ZERO!!!! A big fat ZERO!!!! Help!! What do I do?

Peer Pressure
I gave in to peer pressure of Wednesday night and went to the Green Mill for "just one" beer with 3 of my co-workers. Once again all the money I had with me was $4.00, I can at least get one beer. However Noelle said she would spot me so drink up!! We ordered and the beer was 4.25, what the hell I didn't even have enough money to buy myself my first drink. I ended up staying until 6 and had four beers!!! I had hardly eaten anything at work so I was getting a buzz really fast and I was starving. When I got home I ate crap that I shouldn't have and hit the hay before 9. I am such a dumb ass sometimes I had to get up at 4 to go into work at 5!!! Wednesday was fun, but not on the " healthy plan"!!!
Thursday, I was so tired today, I had some rice with a little gravy at 9:30am and had some chicken salad on half a lite bun and a delite yogurt at 2:00. I had pt today and had to be there at 4. I almost fell asleep waiting for her to call me back. I rode the bike for 3 miles, I think she forgot me on the damn thing. When I left there I had to go straight to the gym. If I didn't I knew I wouldn't go. I did 1.50 miles on the treadmill and 1 on the elliptical. Not much but I was super tired and STARVING!!! You guessed it when I got home I ate crap!!!!
I need to fricking PLAN!!!! I also need to learn to eat on some sort of a schedule. I go way to long in between meals then go ficking hog wild when I see food. Last night and tonight for sure. What is that saying "lack of planning on your part does not constitute and emergency on my part" Well for me lack of planning does constitute and emergency, I lose all control!!!! Plan, Plan, Plan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would kick my own ass if I could reach it!! hee hee
I will try and let this be a lesson and move on!!!!

3am and off to work I go
I really thought today would be horrible. I got the call at 9:30 pm to go into work at 3am. Let's see that is only 4 hours of sleep if I get to bed at 10. WOW!! I took a Special K bar, Weight control oatmeal, Vegetable beef soup that I made, half of a grapefruit, a caramel delite yogurt, and lettuce with the raspberry dressing. This is what I ate, the Special K bar at 6:30am, this is good since I was up at 2. Then at 10:00 I had the soup and the grapefruit. I remembered to take the pills 15 minutes before I ate. I drank 2 32oz waters at work today, very impressive. At 1:30 I had the yogurt delite. When I got home I was so tired, I had some more 'closet eating" flips with a teaspoon of PB, there is only a handful left so the obsession of eating them will be ending!!! I opted not to go to the gym. Not a good choice but I am ok with that. For supper I had a baked potato and 1 chicken strip. I took 2 pills 15 minutes before I ate. We will see what the rest of the night brings. I have had two glasses of water so far tonight as well. I am cold so I will be having a little caramel vanilla tea in a bit. Yummy!!! I feel full right now. Good thing I had the soup to help get those veggies in. Look at that I didn't eat the oatmeal or the lettuce I took today!!!
I am feeling sad, when I got home today I looked at FB and one of the girls I used to work with in Fargo was pregnant with twins. She delivered at 23 weeks I believe it said and the baby girl died 12 hours after birth and the little boy is hanging in there as of now, he was a little over one pound if I remember correctly. Oh so sad!!! Totally puts things into perspective once again!!!

2010- Let it all begin!
Wow, 2010, already? How did it creep up on me so fast? I still have chips, crackers and peanut butter in the cupboard to eat!!!! HA HA. I said that January 3rd was going to be the day to ditch all bad stuff and turn the corner to good heath. Apparently the corner is a very sharp one and I need to do it slowly!! Yes, that would be an excuse!!! Actually I have done fairly good for the last couple of days. I only "closet ate" some flips with peanut butter that I shouldn't have and a handful of peanut M&M's. The crackers are left over from the traveling snack bag and the m&m's were a Christmas gift!!
Yesterday for breakfast I had 2 scrambled eggs and a half of a grapefruit then off to the gym. For lunch I had some lettuce and the other half of the grapefruit. I wasn't going to have anything else but the half of my subway sandwich from Saturday was looking so lonely in the fridge. It was ham and cheese with pickles and black olives, no sauce. So not that bad. I got this awesome cookbook for Christmas, Taste of Home, Guilt Free Cooking. I made some chicken lasagna out of it for supper. It said it was 196 calories for one piece, however I don't know how that can be right when it has fat free cottage cheese, reduced fat Velveeta (no, I did not use this as it was almost 5 bucks), I used reduced fat Mexican cheese and then it has shredded Parmesan cheese in it. Very tasty!!! It says 7grams of fat. Kind of high but so yummy!!! I had a couple handfuls of popcorn before bed.
Monday, I slept in then attempted to eat a Special K blueberry bar, but could only get 2 bites down. I hate eating breakfast, it almost gags me. Wish the rest of the day went that way. HA HA. I went to the gym and had a great workout then came home and had a piece of the Chicken lasagna and a yogurt parfait, the Delights. 100 calories and oh so good. Not like regular yogurt, on sale at cub this week to!!!! I then had the "closet eating? flips and a few drinks of a Dt Dew. What next? The "shits" yes, this is what happens when you "closet eat". My body must have known that I wasn't suppose to eat it!!! Thanks, that should tell me something right there, STOP DOING IT!!!!!! For supper I had a 4oz hamburger on half of a lite bun and a lettuce salad. I bought some fat free raspberry vinaigrette dressing, very good!!!! What is better do you think, fat free or sugar free? They have this dressing in both so I bought fat free, maybe I will try sugar free next time.
Confession, Gym Girl you will laugh at this if I didn't already tell you. I started taking the Jillian pills yesterday and today, just the blue ones. I kept out what I should have used before I returned them. As smart as I would like to think I am I forgot to write down the directions for them. So I only took one blue before breakfast and 2 before supper. You can take 2 before each meal.( found it on the internet) Not sure if I will use the red ones as those made me feel funny before. If I do I will wait until Sunday when I am off work. I will keep you posted on how they work. I just have to remember to take them consistently!!
I haven't decided what I will take for work tomorrow so I will post that tomorrow. I have been trying to drink lots of water and so far so good!! I can't stand having to go the bathroom every 5 minutes, but I guess I will have to get over it!!!
I start the "Get Fit" program at the Y next Monday!!!!

Ending out 2009
This will be my last post of 2009!! Wow, this year went by fast. 2010 is knocking on the door waiting to get in!
Tonight was also my last workout at the YMCA for 2009. I have a haircut tomorrow a 16 hour shift on Saturday, 7 hours on Sunday and 9 on Monday. I am off Tuesday but will be busy going to my PT appointment, packing, getting Sydney at school and doing our Christmas that night, then it is off to ND early on Wednesday morning!! Wow!!
My therapist at OSI is glad that I won't be able to workout for almost 2 weeks while we are back in ND. She says that my muscles, and my IT band are screaming for some relief and a break. I am ok with this only because I wouldn't have worked out while we were gone anyway. It is going to be very TOUGH going back to the gym after being gone so long. I am going to take my foam roller back and do that and the exercises the therapist gave me.
What will 2010 bring? Well, I have already decided that January 3rd will be the day for me to start making some changes. Then on January 11, I start the 10 week Get Fit program at the Y. Already registered and paid for it!! I will set goals for 2010, however I need a pathway of small steps to achieve them. I will post my "pathway steps" when I get back from the Holidays!!! I wish myself, good health, less fat, better eating habits and a "shaken up" work out routine for 2010!! " I can in 2010"
