This will be my last post of 2010, I must say that I am happy that this year is coming to and end and I hoping that 2011 will be filled with exciting things.
We are leaving town to spend Christmas with our families in ND, we will be coming back to the cities early on New Years Eve to ring in the New Year here at home.
2010 had many happy things happen throughout the year as well as a handful of sad. One thing I am truly happy for is that it looks like my sister in law might make it back to ND to spend Christmas with the family. the Dr's in TX just have to give her the go- ahead that she is strong enough to get on a plane and fly back!!!
For 2011 my hope it to kick my health and fitness on to a road with less bumps and potholes. I will choose to take the curvy roads when challenges arise. Easier to overcome than bumps and potholes, thus taking some of the pressure off. In 2011 I will challenge myself to remember daily what is important to me. It is not the number on the scale it is being healthy and spending time with friends and family, being the bigger person, digging deeper to find the ability to do something when you really don't want to. These are just a few of the things I have in mind for 2011. I will use the rest of December to come up with the rest of my blue print for 2011.
Happy Holidays to all of you!!! See you back in 2011!!!

Stress, can getcha!
What has been going on with me? Oh, where should we start. At the beginning of the month I was sick, my 1st day at the gym was Dec 5th!! As of today that is my only day at the gym this month. I had really good intentions they just didn't pan out. My sister came into town on Dec 6th for work, I knew that I would be hanging out with her a few nights but thought I could make it to the gym. I went out with her two nights in a row and did not go to the gym first. Bad idea. I was going to meet up with her on Wed after I had gone to the gym, however this is what happened instead. I had called my husband from work Wed morning and he told me that my sister had called him and said that we needed to head back to ND as my sister-law, who has cancer was probably not going to make it through the night. We knew she had been in the hospital but had no idea that she was doing so poorly. My sister and I took off for our 8 hour drive to see her. We arrived at the hospital about 9:30, she was still holding on and we were able to sit and talk with her. We spent the night at the hospital. We stayed until Saturday, she was and is at this time still holding on. Actually they are sending her from ND to Texas to the MD Anderson hospital today. This past week has been so stressful and emotional I can't even discribe it. When I look at all the physical and emotional pain my brother and her are going through it makes me realize I really have nothing to complain about. Not even my weight, or unhealthy ways. I also realize I have done this myself and I am the one who can fix it. I have options and choices, my sister in-law really doesn't have that anymore. So when you are down on yourself and frustrated just remember there are more things in life than the the size we want to be or feel we should be. As long as we are healty we have so very much to be thankful for.

Help me understand this
I have had this tug of war going on inside my head since Thanksgiving. Good to know it has been since then, otherwise I would attribute it to all the cold medicine I have been taking. Anyway here goes. As humans we are always looking for that "magic" or "quick fix' to weight loss. Reality tells us that there isn't one. What works is eat less, move more. So on to the eating less. My friend started selling this weight loss product called Monovie. They have many products, but the one that is interesting to me is the Monovei RVL. It is for weight loss and all natural. It is 2 shakes in the day, a protein bar and a meal of 500-600 calories in the evening, along with this you take a supplement twice a day. She said she was discourage when she first started it and didn't see the results others were having, however when she stepped on the scale she CRIED she had lost 16lbs. ( I think she said she had been using it for 2 weeks). Half my mind screams "try it" and the other half screams "scam". This is where I am confused most diets say you should eat around 1200 calories a day, this shake made with skim milk is 280 calories ( you do 2 a day) and the bar is 100 calories then you eat a 500-600 calorie meal this =1260 calories. So you are getting just as many calories as you would if you were eating fruits and veggies. What would be the difference if you blended up a bunch of veggies and added protein powder, isn't that the same thing? If you look at any diet out there you are suppose to eat more fruits and veggies, have good carbs and limit fats to only the good ones and avoid sugar. Why do we say that diets like this Monovie, or the newest one out there " The 17 day diet" are all quick fixes and the weight will come back on. Doesn't the weight come back on because we don't continue to eat like we should? Or is the problem the fact that we didn't learn to eat real food? Or does if have nothing to do with either of those two and it is all about what is in the supplement? People don't seem to have any problem taking a multi vitamin daily when on a diet plan so what is the difference with this? http://www.monaviervl.com/ If you look at this web site you can click products and it tells you exactly what is in all 3 products, shake, bar and supplement. Help me understand this!!

It starts out good
I made it to the gym both Monday and Tuesday and had great workouts. Not because I had to but because I wanted to. I was off yesterday so that I could do a little Christmas shopping with my husband. I assumed we would go to the gym before shopping, we decided to go after. This is never a good thing for me, I never want to go after being out all day, however I went when we got back, I told him " if I don't go now I won't go at all". Off I went. During our shopping, we had to eat, not a "good choice" we choose Taco Johns, remember it was Taco Tuesday. I never have a taco I always have a meat and potato burrito. As I was eating it, indulging in something that I knew wasn't a good choice, but tasted so darn good, I could hear this clipping noise. Yep some old fart in the corner across from us was clipping his finger nails. SERIOUSLY , why don't you floss your dang teeth to that's just as gross and disgusting. Thank goodness I was almost done with my "guilty pleasure". I am still grossed out by it!! Today my intent was to go to the gym when I got off work, well I went to work for an hour then came home sick. I have a really bad sore throat, runny nose and cough. Laurie did you send me your cold through cyper space? I thought I had virus protection!! Ha ha trying to be funny, it must be the cold medicine taking over my head!!! My co-worker seems to think that I won't be in tomorrow either, she had this and it gets worse before it gets better she said. We will see what tomorrow brings!

WELL, WELL, WELL
Where have I been? Let me tell you!! Up to NO GOOD!! There, I have said it. Monday I did go to the gym and had a good eating day. Tuesday and Wednesday were both 16 hour days, therefore no exercise and poor, not bad just poor eating choices. Is there really a difference between poor and bad, I would like to think so, however I can't tell you how to distinguish the two. Thursday that was actually and ok day, I didn't feel good so I ate smaller portions, which included stuffing made from a ww recipe that I must say was not the "real" thing. Won't do that again. Friday, I started out ok, I went to the gym and then hit some stores. BAD IDEA, super long lines. Friday was my husbands birthday so we went out with friends for supper and some drinks. Need I say more........... Yes, beer did overtake my brain. With that said Saturday was not hell but pretty close to it. I would feel good for awhile then back to crap. This lead to eating greasy food in hopes of finding a cure for my self induced misery. Plus there was no way I was going to workout. Sunday started off good and went downhill because I didn't plan. How do I feel about this. Not the best, but I sure did have fun on Friday. I had some more bad news this past week as well, my 19 year old cousin was diagnosed with cancer. That was a hard hit and contributed to my downfall as well. What is in store for this week. NORMALCY!!!! I will be back at it and it will feel GOOD!!!!! P.S I need to get some blogs read for extra inpiration!!!!

Channeling the tears
Some days are just "bad days". I did really well on Monday on my 40 days of fitness fun plan, I did 55 minutes on the elliptical, ate my veggies, drank my water and had a planned out lunch and supper. Now on to Tuesday, this was a horrible day, I had a planned out lunch at work, I drank my water then hit the road to the gym. On the way to the gym I got a text from by brother saying his wife's cancer was back. What? Not the results we were hoping for. I only did 35 minutes on the elliptical that is all I had in me. I came home and had a planned out supper, but failed to eat any veggies with it. After supper I called a friend who had left me a message to call her as soon as I could. More bad news one of my past co-workers from ND had passed away unexpectedly at the age of 55. So sad! Today I am not going into work until 3 so that means I got to sleep in, which I really needed. I got up and was still feeling sad and in shock over my friend. I did not want to go to the gym or do anything this morning. After a hour or so I decided the best way to channel the tears and sadness would be with exercise. I did the Shred DVD then headed to the gym where I did 15 minutes on the elliptical and 50 minutes on the treadmill. It felt good to exercise I think that is exactly what I needed today!!!

40 days of fitness fun
I am hoping for 40 days of fitness fun, however I am sure it all won't be FUN!! My plan might seem simple to some but these are some areas where I struggle so here goes.
1)Eat breakfast daily
2)Eat something every 3-4 hours, this one will hopefully prevent me from binging when I get home from work. Instead of eating when I am hungry I will wait, then I am starving so nothing is safe or off limits when I hit that mode.
3)Eat Vegetables and Fruit everyday. My hope is that I will get all my servings of fruits and vegetables in for the day, but I will start slow by saying "eat them everyday".
4)DRINK, DRINK, DRINK, WATER, that is!! (haha not beer. I lack doing this and why? Iam not sure it is one of the simplest things to do!!!
5)Continue to go to the gym, but up the workouts in intensity and duration. Lately I will have a few good days in a row where I will do an hour of cardio and then it dwindles down to only a half hour towards the end of the week. Along with doing cardio, I will do weights of some sort 3 times a week. This can include the Body Pump class, or the Shred DVD. This is where my focus really needs to be.
6)I will be more mindful of the amount of sugar I consume, fake or real.
7) I will plan my meals!! PREPARE!!
This is my plan, I had planed to make myself a little chart today but I didn't get it done so I will work on that this week. I am a visual person so seeing little accomplishments will help keep me on track.
Today for breakfast I had an egg with salsa in a half a ww pita and a an orange , for lunch veggie soup and a ham & turkey sand with ww cheese on a half a ww pita. Supper was chicken pockets. (chix mixed with laughing cow cheese bake in a crescent rolls), steamed mixed veggies, a tablespoon of alfredo noodles and some pineapple. I have had 5 glasses of water and a hot chocolate today. I would say I am off to a good start. I did half hour on the elliptical at the gym today as well.
Hoping for a Happy Monday!!!

Tis the Holiday Season
The holidays are just around the corner, 14 days until Thanksgiving and 43 days until Christmas Eve to be exact. Wow, they are coming up fast. I am still working on doing a challenge for myself. My plan is to start on Sunday Nov 13 and end December 23rd. This will give me 40 days of action!!!! I will let you know on Sunday what my plan of action is going to be. I didn't focus on food this past week and ate what I wanted, I didn't lose weight but I think my head is lighter. I feel like my brain isn't always in overdrive wondering if what I am eating is a good choice. Don't get me wrong I did make some unhealthy choices. One thing I know I need to work on and will be in my challenge is eating on a schedule of some kind. I still struggle with breakfast, have lunch at 10:30 then eat crap around 3:30 because I am so hungry and feel guilty about it later.
Today I had the day off so I checked out 2 of the P90X dvd's,(borrowed from Gym Girl, thank-you) (Ab Ripper and Shoulders/Arms) Let's just say it was hard, very hard, but in a good way. Then I went to the gym and did 35 minutes on the elliptical. I had done 55 minutes on the elliptical last night so my legs were really sore today. I did make an AWESOME PUMPKIN SMOOTHIE this morning. HERE IT IS COMPLIMENTS OF HUNGRY GIRL. Yummy!!!www.hungry-girl.com
1/2 cup canned pure pumpkin
4 oz. Diet Snapple Peach Iced Tea (I used Dt Tropa Rocka Snapple Tea)
4 oz. Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze
cinnamon, nutmeg and/or pumpkin pie spice (to taste)
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
Splenda (to taste)
The changing ingredient is 1 tbsp. of some sort of vanilla protein powder (Jay Robb's Whey Protein rocks!) OR 3 oz. of fat-free vanilla yogurt. And sometimes I'll throw in a splash of Torani Sugar Free Syrup in Brown Sugar Cinnamon. I just toss all of the ingredients in a blender with lots of crushed ice (about a cup and a half of it) and blend it all for about a minute. YUM -- this smoothie is so good, I can't stand it! And, the most amazing part is that it only has about 100 - 120 calories, depending on exactly what you choose to put in it -- and it is SUPER-filling! Try one of these no-name peachy pumpkin drinks and you will be HOOKED. I can almost guarantee it!
Happy Hour tomorrow, this is the make up one from when I was sick, so there won't be any gym and because I know myself so well I will not make good food choices. We are suppose to get snow on Saturday and Sunday, if that happens I will get some of my exercise in shoveling the drive way!!!!!

Taking the focus off Food
My brain goes hay wire when I try hard to figure out what I should be eating, how much and when. My friend tells me that I focus way to much on food. I am the one at work that people come to when they want to know if they should eat this or that. Today I told my friend that I bought some White Chocolate Mudslide coffee creamer, and she said "are you really going to have it, can you have it, is it good for you"? I said "a little won't hurt if it is used in moderation", ( or taken to work where it will get used even if my name is BOLDLY written all over it, that will keep the calories down). What I realized after she got done asking all those questions is that I must sound like that CONSTANTLY. How in the heck can that be healthy? It's not, I must find a balance. I know this, The problem is I try to eat healthy but what happens is I limit myself to what I can have then I binge. Since my birthday I have tried to stay on track and make good choices but it hasn't gone as I had planned, well planned in my head that is. I have been eating what everyone else is eating and eating when I am hungry. What do you know the scale was down 1 pound. I must also add last week I think I made it to the gym twice. Holy cats I am lazy, but the scale was down. I am going to continue to eat like this for one more week and see what happens. Of course I know I need to pay a little more attention to sugar and carbs.
I DVR'd a couple of workouts on Fit TV this morning with the intention of "checking them out/do them" tonight. However I went to the gym and did cardio and when I got home I didn't feel like doing them. From past experience I know I need to do them first then go to the gym. I will shoot for that the next couple of days.
I want to come up with a challenge for myself for the holiday season I am just not sure what I want to do. I must get on that the holiday's are just around the corner. I will keep you posted on what I come up with!!!!!!!!

GLOOMY
GLOOMY that is how I feel. I was doing well the 1st week following the "Your Inner Skinny" diet plan. Then my birthday happened. I had a great weekend, family, friends, beer, cake, chips. I had it all!! I had so much fun and was so relaxed.
On Monday it was back to reality!!! I am struggling to get back on track with the plan, why? Because I have not taken time "to plan". The weather is crappy, I don't want to go to the store to get "real food", it is cold and windy and I don't want to go to the gym when I get off work. I feel overwhelmed and stressed with decisions I need to make personally and professionally. What do I do to motivate myself?

Can this be REAL??
I am on my second week of the Your Inner Skinny diet plan. I am not following it to a T, for one reason I did not plan. I started last Monday and when I weighed on Monday I was down 1 pound!!! What do you know my scale does move, sometimes!!! I am happy with this! However I have no expectations for this week. Friday is my birthday and we are having a "happy hour" (or hours) at our house starting at 7. I know that I will have beer and chips. I could make a bunch of healthy stuff but honestly my friends and co-workers wouldn't enjoy that, nor would I, so why waste the money. Who wants carrot sticks and celery with beer? I am going to make some buffalo chili!!! Yummy. We are also going to have family in town for the weekend. My plan is to make the best choices I can through out the weekend. It feels really good to say that I am OK with this. I don't want to be all stressed and uptight thinking should I eat or drink this or that. I want to have fun!!!! I am defiantly ready for some!!!
I did 5 miles on the treadmill in 60 minutes on Monday, Tuesday I skipped the gym and tonight I did 40 minutes on the elliptical. I am ok with this!!!!
The end of last week and the beginning of the this week have been tough. My cousin had her baby, she was about a month early and weighed 4lbs(something), she is still in the hospital but doing well and getting stronger everyday. My sister in-law lost a co-worker unexpectedly she had worked with her for 21plus years. I found out today my uncle was taken to the ER and had a stint put in his heart today. These are just 3 examples of why there are way more important things in life than a number on a scale!!!! Little self reflection never hurts, I am learning to be more thankful for my health everyday!!!

Your Inner Skinny
What is that? A book written by Joy Bauer, a nutritionist and a contributor on the TODAY show. I found this book by stealing the Woman's day magazine (Sept issue) from my sister. She talks about how losing weight is a journey and how it is the best gift you will ever give yourself. She has a 4 step weight loss plan. The first step is outlined in the article and the rest can be found at womansday.com/slimdown. I am not good at reading menu plans off the computer so I bought the book.
I decided to change to her plan instead of following WW. I just wasn't good at journaling what I was eating and I could still use my points and eat junk. I started following her plan on Monday. It is very simple, you eat "regular foods", there are already menu's planned for you, which you can change up if you don't like a certain food, you do it in steps and the menu's are mostly for single servings, so you don't have to worry about having 2nds when it only makes one serving. Step one is 7 days. Step one does cut out processed foods, sugars, sugar substitutes and starches but only for a week. With that said that means no Dt Mountain Dew. I have had a headache for the last two days. It was really bad this morning at work so I got two Tylenol rapid release gels from a co-worker and she made me a cup of coffee with some spiced creamer. I should not have had the creamer but my headache did go away. I am not a huge hot coffee drinker so it was better for me to have that than a pop. For the most part I have stayed on track with her plan, however she does not give a snack at night other than veggies. I do have a 100 calorie pack of almonds or 15 pistachio nuts or a 50 calorie piece of sting cheese. I know how my body feels when I get restrictive on certain things. I HATE that feeling!! That's why I added something at night, however I stayed away from CARBS like popcorn or pretzels. We are going out of town on Friday so I will weigh myself before we go. I know that I will not be eating the best while we are gone, however I am committed to making better choices than I normally would. I do know that I will have a few beers, which are not on the plan until one of the next steps.
I am trying to get back into the habit of going to Body Pump 2x a week, I went Monday but today I just wasn't feeling it so I did 60 minutes on the elliptical. Now that I am feeling, for some reason I have a charlie horse like cramp in my calf! Just have to keep on keeping on!!!!!

Pump it up
I went to Body Pump tonight!! WOW it has been a long time. I felt really good. I had a flu shot yesterday and for some reason my arm is really sore, usually it doesn't get that way. Sore arm or not I did the class. I did 25 minutes on the elliptical before the class. The scale, what did it say this morning? Wait for it............ IT WAS THE SAME!!! I am starting to think that I am destined to stay at this weight!! A few years ago when I was going to WW I remember a meeting where the leader talked about a lady who came to meetings every week for a long period of time but never lost any weight, just stayed the same, finally something clicked for her and the weight started to come off. No, this was not me, but I am hoping for the same result, ONE DAY IT WILL CLICK!! I thought I knew what I was doing but it looks like I need to "tweak" something.
Friday will be a challenge I am going to Happy Hour with some friends. I could pass but this has been set up for over 2 months it is hard to coordinate our schedules. My plan will be to make good food choices during the day and not make Happy Hour turn into Happy Night!! I will keep you posted on how it goes!

Twin Cities Marathon
How in the world did I forget this in my last post, probably because it was so long already. HAHA Today my husband and I went to support our friend Melissa in her first Marathon race!!! She did awesome her time was 503.5. We cheered her on at mile 25, we were yelling her name and good job and all that good stuff. When she saw us she jumped in the air in a cheering motion all while going up hill. Did I mention Mile 25!!!! I am so proud of her and she was so full of energy!!!! I must say watching people run marathons brings new meaning to the word "running"!!!! What amazed me was there were people of all ages, shapes and injuries running. It was so amazing to watch!!!! I am not sure I was amazed enough to ever want to run one myself but you never know!!!!!
This sums up the Shred
Where have I been, well I was in the great state of ND for a week. I tired to update my blog but for some reason I couldn't log in. This is how it went. We had to go to ND to help take care of my father in-law who had a knee replacement, on the way there I find out my dad is in the hospital. They didn't know what was wrong with my dad, turns out he had a hernia that was attached to fat or covered by fat so they couldn't find it right way. They spent 3 days looking for the problem. They found it late Monday night and he had surgery. All went well. Both dads are doing great.
Now for me, we left on Sunday about 10am, it is about a 7 hour drive, I got up and did Shred before we left. I did it Mon, Wed and Thur while we were there. I only missed on Tuesday. I did not have a gym to go to while we were gone but I think I made up for some of it by doing some yard work. Taking down part of a very tall hedge is alot of work!!! I am very good at carrying branches.
All in all I am very proud of doing Shred for the whole month. I missed a total of 5 times that I didn't do it. I took measurements at the start of the 3rd week. I re-took them today and I have lost inches!!! 3.5inches, the breakdown one off each arm, one off the hips and .5 the chest. I am happy with inches, even if it is not from the places that I want it to be from. As far as the stupid scale I have had it with it. It still is the EXACT same as when I started on Sept 1st!!!
I am not sure what Oct holds for me as far as exercise challenges!! I really want to lose 5lbs by Oct 22nd, my 38 birthday!! I went to the gym yesterday and did some cardio and a few weights, today I did Shred before the gym then did 35 minutes of cardio. I really want to figure out a schedule that will work for me to take the Body Pump class at least 2 times a week. It is harder at this gym, they have really odd times for classes if you ask me. I will not let a schedule set me back I will figure something out. On the flip side of that I did take 3 unopened DVD's from my sister when I was back so I can always do them. They are from the Barry's Bootcamp set. I don't even know who he is!!! I am about to find out!!
My eating when we were back was not on a schedule at all, I didn't eat more food than I did before I just ate more crap food!!! I DID NOT have Chex mix!! That in and of it self is a huge accomplishment!!!!
We did not eat out once this weekend, which is really good. I have eaten fruit, lots of raw veggies, I have tried Hummus, which I actually like (roasted red pepper), I have drank lots of water, and have been very conscious of portions!!! I have had one DT Dew this weekend!!!
I was telling Gym Girl that for some reason my cravings are changing. I have not craved chips, I had a beer on Friday night and it did not taste good, I bought Peanut M&M's at 2 different gas stations when we were traveling and only ate 2 M&M's out of the one bag and the other bag is still unopened. Things might just be looking up for me!!!! Welcome October!!!!

The sick day
I did call in sick today like I was pretty sure I would, however because I was so frustrated with yesterday I did have a beer last night. Ok I had 4 beers, the 16oz ones so really that is like having 6. Not a GOOD CHOICE!! So much for the mental health sick day I thought I was taking, I actually was sick. I have had a headache and stomach-ache most of the day. It is my own fault. Did it make me feel better, not so much. Lesson learned- stop at one or two!! (I love beer, just not how it makes you feel when you have had to many). Now don't think I didn't' eat along with having the beers. I tried to get my husband to take me to Taco Bell or McDonald's but he didn't. That was ok I found many other things to eat. I had pretzels, crackers with cheese, chips, at one point my husband said "are you about done eating". I said "nope, I will finish off this crappy day with peanut butter toast and a glass of milk". So I did. For some reason when I have beer when I am done I crave peanut butter toast and milk. WEIRD. I had a crappy eating day today as well, my stomach hurt but I had to sample different things to find out if it was what I wanted or not. Enough of my self loathing I am ready for tomorrow and will put these 2 bad days behind me. On a positive note for today I have consumed a lot of water and I did Shred this morning.

Seeking Advice
Yesterday was my first day doing level 3 of Shred. I must say it is challenging!!!
Today was my day to weigh in, I stepped on the scale and to my disbelief I GAINED 2 POUNDS. SERIOUSLY I knew that I had a few beers, pasta and pizza but to gain 2 pounds was devastating. I honestly do not know what to do. I have done the Shred DVD everyday this month except for 3. I am committed to doing it, when will I see the results? Hell I even did it when the chiropractor told me not to. I am following WW without going to the meetings, tracking what I am eating. I know where one down fall is and that is drinking water. I need to make myself drink more. Not just at night right before bed either.
Today was a HORRIBLE day at work, I was telling my co-worker I really need a beer later today. Her comment to me was " how can you work so hard at the gym, do this DVD you talk about, watch what you eat and then say you want a beer". My comment back was " I have worked my ass off doing that DVD, watching what I'm eating and the results are the same as when I started so why shouldn't I have the beer?" I am sure other people have been in my place before so please hand out those little pieces of advice that I either haven't heard before or the ones that appear to be so simple I must be missing them.
I know this will probably sound awful to some of you but I am 95% sure that I will call in sick to work tomorrow. I just need a mental health day. This is only one example in my crappy day today and speaks volumes as to why I need a break. I am a correctional officer, I am the one who books people into our jail (actually we are a workhouse so people are not brought in off the street they have already went to court and were given a date to turn themselves in to us). I booked this lady who was in her 50's in on a DUI. I ask her if she needs a padlock to lock her court papers up in the dorm she will be staying in. She said "what did you say" I repeated myself, again she said "what did you say", "I don't know what your asking me". I said " this is a padlock, do you know what they are used for", "yes" she says with an attitude, I say " would you like one to lock your papers up with" again she says " what do you want me to do with it". I say " never mind you don't need a padlock". I then proceed to take her into the dorm she will be staying in. I say you are in bunk 1201 top bunk, 1st section, right in the front. She wonders to the back of the dorm. I again tell her where her bunk is, she looks at the numbers but can't seem to find number 1. Which she was standing right in front of. At this time my co-worker could see my distress and took over helping her. The rest of the day was very much the same!
When I got home I was in no mood to do the DVD, I was like "screw it" "why do it"? I had a bite to eat, tried to take a nap, guilt overtook my mind about not doing the DVD, so I got up and DID THE DVD!!!!

Tuesday= level 3
I was side-line for a day, I did not do the Shred DVD on Thursday. I was suppose to take 2 days off from the gym, so I did I just didn't take 2 days off from Shred, only 1, I am not a good listener when it comes to stuff like that!!! I went back to the chiropractor today and had another adjustment and some more acupuncture. I wouldn't mind the knot in my neck but it causes a bad headache, that's the part that kicks my butt. Tomorrow is the big day to switch to level 3. Wednesday will be my weigh in day once again. My husband hid the scale again this week, I did not ask him to do this. I am nervous for Wednesday because I had beer, pasta and pizza this weekend. If I don't lose it will be my own fault. However I feel like I am toning up, so if I don't lose this week at least I have that going in my favor. I have 2 more trips to the chiropractor this week!! I did 3 miles on the elliptical and the gym tonight and biked for 30 minutes yesterday. I am back in the game!!!!

Side-lined
Last night after I blogged I did the Shred DVD. I was still feeling guilty about eating crap and to much of it so I took my butt to the gym. I did a little over 4 miles in 45 minutes on the treadmill. Half way through the workout, I pulled something in my neck. How do you pull something in your neck while on a treadmill? I don't know, but something happened. After I showered I put some Icy-Hot on it. Not a good choice, I must have had some sort of reaction to that because both sides of my neck were red. Not a good look. I went to bed. I wanted so bad to call in sick this morning but I didn't. I went to work hoping that they had an extra person on so I could go home. Not only did they not have an extra person there were only 2 female officers in the building. This is the answer I got when I said I wanted to go home if I could. Not going to happen today, and by the way I need you to do this, this and this and help out with this!!!!! Really!!!! Did you not hear what I said to you!!! I stayed and made an appointment with the chiropractor for 3:30. When I got there his question to me was " how in the world do you move your head" My reply, not well I have a horrible headache. He said "no kidding". Something in my neck was way out of whack, he adjusted it, did some acupuncture and sent me on my way. Come back early next week. Saturday if it is like today. NO gym for 2 days, it is very inflamed. He did say gym so I was going to do the DVD. My husband said not to and I should listen and don't over do it. I will take tonight off from both the gym and DVD. I Will do the DVD tomorrow. When it is better maybe I will even have a make-up day!!

Results are in
I told my husband on Monday night not to forget to put the scale back in the bathroom Tuesday when he went to bed, I NEED it for Wednesday morning. He put it back Tuesday night!! I did my measurements last night day 14 of the Shred, go figure but at least now I have something to work off of for the next two weeks.
This morning it was raining, dark and cold when I got up at 6:05, today was the big day, I got to weigh myself. The results................ I was up .6 of a pound. I honestly was MORTIFIED, I could feel tears about to come running down my face! How the hell can this be? I did the DVD everyday except last Friday, I advanced myself to level 2 after 10 days, I continued to go to the gym, I watched what I ate, I journaled my food except for two days, what gives????? The first week I didn't lose at all. So your telling me that I have been doing all of this for 2 weeks and have not seen a loss? YEP, that is what the scale says. Here is where I get myself into trouble, I ask myself " Why do you try so hard"? When I eat chips and crap and workout I stay the same as well, so why all the work to journal, try to eat better and do different exercises, what sense does it make?
The last two days at work were crap, how can anyone remain calm and collected when surrounded by idiots, I don't think it is possible.
When I came home today I needed to eat my one and only meal for the day was at 10:30 I had a ham&cheese sandwich on a deli flat, some chips, a rice krispie bar and 2 cookies. After two bites of the sandwich I didn't want it, the chips tasted like crap, I really didn't care for the cookies. Guess what, I ate them! Why? I am not sure, so I could feel like crap before doing Shred today is the only thing I can come up with, or could it be because this is a habit!!!!
This is what I am taking from this crap day!! I have my measurements so hopefully the next two weeks will be kinder to me, I feel like crap physically and mentally for eating all that stuff, lesson learned, my habit needs to be broken, the food did not make me feel better, only worse!!! Finally, there will always be idiots in the world, I just need to find away to RUN AWAY from them instead of letting myself be surrounded by them.
The week can only get better correct!

Level 2
I started level two of the Shred on Saturday, boy is that a challenge! Even though I do go to the gym on a weekly basis this seems so much harder. I am sure for me it is because when I go to the gym I tend to do the same things over and over. This is definitely shaking up the routine!! I missed doing the shred on Friday, I did not get up at 5:30, I am ok with that. I have only missed doing it twice so far. This is the longest I have stayed committed to a challenge!! That in itself is a reward. The scale is MIA until Wednesday morning. It is tough for me. My food for the weekend and today has been pretty good except for a little pizza and cheese bread last night. I had no beer in the house so that is a plus or I am sure I would have had a couple!! I hope to get my measurements tomorrow. I really wish I would have done them on day one, oh well I will shoot for the 15th for sure, at least that is a half way point!!! I need to work harder at journaling my food, i was very good in the beginning but have missed a few days. I am still confused with should I go with the weight watchers points I am allowed or should I go for the calories I am allowed. Points seems to be the easier route. I must say I have really tried hard to eat more veggies and drink water.
I think I have come up with a solution for my breakfast. I have never really been a coffee drinker but I seem to like the cold coffee's and the frappe's. (Caramel High Rise from Caribou, all time favorite). So this is what I have been doing for breakfast. I bought some Atkins protein shakes, they have a mint chocolate latte, I think that is what it is, I take that and mix it with a little coffee and add ice. I put it together at work at 7am and it lasts me until 10 or 10:30. Perfect timing for my break. If I am still on the hungry side I also have Kashi, Cinnamon Harvest cereal with me, (the little bales like shredded wheat) 28 is a serving. I don't put milk on them I just eat them dry!! I eat my lunch meal at 10:30, weird but that is how my work is set up for this year. Then at 1:30 or 2:00 I have raw veggies and Lite 3 cheese ranch dressing. NOT HIDDEN VALLEY RANCH, GROSS, YUCK ICK!!! This is made by kraft. I put 2 tablespoons (1 serving) in my fancy new container and lots of veggies, I just need a hint of dip on the veggies, not globs so I have had dressing left over. This seems to be working. I started doing it last Thursday!! Hoping for a great day tomorrow.
It is amazing to me how good I feel when I don't eat a bunch of crap, I actually feel better, who knew!!!

Hide and Seek at 6am!!
Last night I was talking with my husband about not losing any weight this week even after doing the 30 day Shred for 7 out of the 8 days. I said that I HAD wanted to weigh on Wednesday morning then have him hide the scale from me so that I could only weigh once a week. Since I did not have a loss on Wednesday for the week I decided that to hide the scale would not be a good idea, I certainly do not want to go up this week. I got up this morning and something was missing, the SCALE!! I said " it was a thought"!! Honestly I was horrified I couldn't even function for a few minutes. Thoughts were racing through my head, "do I wake him up and ask what the hell he did with it", "do I go looking for it myself" "What am I going to do". Not much I could do, I sucked it up and got ready for work. It will be ONE REALLY LONG WEEK FOR ME!! Honestly I don't know what the big deal is for me to weigh myself, the scale seemed to go up little by little and I didn't didn't do much to stop it. I think in my mind I feel I can eat things that I "know" I shouldn't be having because I go to the gym and will work it off. Obviously there have been more than a few times I have consumed more calories than I have worked off.
I did the 30 Day Shred when I came home from work today, I had planned on going to the gym, but I just couldn't motivate myself to go. What else did I have to do? NOTHING. I was really tired so I did take a half hour nap. I had a good day eating, except for the few animal crackers I had with some peanut butter. I need to find a healthy peanut butter ( I have Jiff, not so healthy) that tastes good or just get rid of what I have. I will work on that.
I have another 16 hour shift tomorrow, so I will try and get up at 5:30 to do the Shred, or I will take the day off. I really don't want to take another day off, but 16 hours makes for a VERY LONG DAY!! Working with inmates for 16 hours is very mentally draining. Ever worked with people who ask the same question 20 times a day, feel they are entitled to everything, do not know the meaning of the word "NO", and when they do hear it say "I am going to call my lawyer" and take absolutely no responsibility for their actions? Welcome to my work day.
My hope for the weekend is to get my measurements taken and posted, better late than never, and change my picture on my blog, it is 2yrs old!!

My Weigh in Day!!!
What kind of party should this be? Celebration, Pity,or Reality the list could go on and on. I wanted Celebration, as you can tell I said wanted, it didn't happen this week. My weight stayed the same, exactly the same as on Sept 1st!!! Should I have a pity party then? No, I did achieve success in the fact that I did the Shred DVD 7 out of the 8 days and I tracked all my food and I didn't GAIN! I guess it will have to be a Reality party, the facts are right there in black and white, you don't lose weight just because you want to, it doesn't happen even if you want it really bad. I have to believe that if I keep doing what I am doing that it will start to come off. I had a good day eating today for the most part. I ate breakfast, had a veggie burger and veggies for lunch, banana with PB for snack. I did the DVD then hit the gym. Problem???? Yep, did the DVD and went to the gym without eating. Reality, I ate way more than what I should have when I got home, I was hungry. I had measured out a cup of brown rice, which was mixed with left over turkey, veggies and 98% fat free cream of celery soup, no milk added, with a touch of spicy salsa. One cup lead to two and a piece of bread, some chips and a skinny cow ice-cream. I have no excuse to be hungry later!!!!!
Moving on, Why do I feel more hungry in the mornings when I eat breakfast? I am not a breakfast person, I have been trying to eat something because they say breakfast is good for you and it fills you up so you won't overeat later because you are so hungry. I think this has the opposite affect on me!!!! Today I had half an egg beater, (1egg) on a deli flat with laughing cow cheese. I cook the egg at night then just heat it up while the deli flat is toasting, spread that with the laughing cow cheese and there you have it a breakfast sandwich!! I GAGGED it down, 6:35 is way to early for me to eat!!! I also took a smoothie with me and didn't even finish that in 8hours!!!! Before when I didn't eat I wasn't even hungry until 9 or 9:30. Should I quit eating breakfast? I get my first break at work at 10:30 my second one comes anywhere from 1:30-2:30 or not at all. I try to have something in my work area that I can "sneak or grab easily" since technically we aren't suppose to eat at our work areas. I did make the egg beater(= 2 eggs this time and not one) again for tomorrow morning but I added some green&red peppers, spinach and turkey, maybe this will be more filling. "If at first you don't succeed, try and try again"

Day 7 one week!!!
I have Shredded for 6 days now!!!! I missed one due to working 16 hours on Friday. I will weigh tomorrow morning and post my LOSS , (crossing the fingers) tomorrow night!! I probably should have posted them today as it has been one week. But since I started on a Wednesday that seems more like the week to me. Weird but that is how my mind grasps this!!! Today I had a good eating day!!! I even went to Applebee's for the first day of school supper, (Gym Girl also came to supper) and had the Asiago Steak on their 550 or is it 530 calorie menu. I know that it had a point value of 7, which I calculated by using their web site. I did have two mozzarella sticks. I got off work at 3 and was doing the Shred by 3:20!!! I knew I wouldn't do it when I got home from supper. It was cold, windy and really icky here today. That kind of weather is not a motivator for me to workout. I thought about going to the gym after we got back, but that is all it was, a THOUGHT!!!

Shredding for for the weekend!!
This is how the weekend played out. Friday I did not blog, I had the 16 hour shift at work. Like I expressed before, the eating and the exercise scared me. I did not get up at 530 and do the " Shred" one day missed. However I did walk at work for 20 minutes. Eating at work. This is so hard for me. I work at a jail so when we are on our break we can get called to respond to situations at anytime. This is what makes bringing your own food hard. If you get called you have to leave it unattended!! Now who wants to come back and even think about eating it when you have no idea who has been in the staff dining room. It is off limits to inmates unless accompanied by an officer, but let us remember following rules is not their strong suit. So on Friday I had packed my own lunch but due to time and back up with breaks I ate mashed potatoes with chicken gravy at 10:00am and at 2pm. I had a ice-cream scoop eat time. I had a smoothie from McDonald's for breakfast. Good up until later with the calories. (at least I think). Then on to the 3-11 shift my wonderful co-workers are full of surprises!! One brought me a LG White Chocolate Frappe thing from Starbucks and the other brought me a Greek Chicken Sandwich from Dino's. I had no idea they were bringing this stuff so how do you say "no thank-you, I have a veggie burger in the freezer". Both things were wonderful. At 9 I was starving, I am not even kidding you. I had some dried apples and a Slim Fast bar, at 11:30 when I got home I had a piece of homemade pizza. Friday was a rough day
On to Saturday. I tend to feel guilty and then try to over compensate. I got up and went to the gym and did 35 minutes on the elliptical and then came home and did the Shred. I had a deli-flat with PB&J before working out. The PB&J was so minimal I could hardly see it. Only for the taste. I have been craving Peanut butter horribly lately. Then for lunch a veggie burger on a deli-flat. Supper was a lettuce &spinach salad with other veggies mixed in with Lite 3 Cheese Ranch dressing. I do not like lettuce!!!!! I forced myself to eat it. I also had some watermelon!!! Part of the guilt from the day before must have been kicking in. I had a few pretzel M&M's just the little bag you get from the checkout stand. I shared with my step-daughter so I did not eat the whole pack. What happened at 11:00pm. I was starving. So I had a deli-flat with minimal PB&J again. Good choice, probably not but I am not going to bed starving. I hate that feeling. I am sure you are thinking were you really starving or just thought you were. No my stomach was literally growling!! What gives?
Sunday, got up had a couple of bites of yogurt, hit the gym for 35 minutes on the treadmill, came home and did the Shred. I cleaned both my bathrooms before taking a shower. By this time I am hungry, very hungry. I tell my husband if I don't eat I am going to be sick, that was the honest truth. He asked what I wanted and I said a cheeseburger and fries from Culver's or a Meat and Potatoe burrito from Taco Johns!!!!! Did I really tell him this? Yes, I did. By the time I got out of the shower and ready for the day he was back with our meal, Culver's. It wasn't until after I ate it I looked at the points. Well for both burger and fries it was 15pts I think!! I get 22 for the day!!! Supper was turkey breast that we cooked and 2 grands biscuits and a scoop of potatoes. I had watermelon and some crackers with a ww Peppercorn cheese wedge later. Way over on points. However I was not hungry at 11:00when I went to bed.
Today, Monday. I got up early, had a stomach-ache. I did Shred then went to the gym and did 65 minutes on the elliptical. Before I went I had two bites of yogurt and a bite of this banana oatmeal bar that I made last night. WW recipe, I forgot I made it before and it is gross. I will chop it up and put it in yogurt to use it up as not to waste it. I came home and had a chicken salad sandwich made with Greek yogurt and wing sauce. Red peppers on top all on a Arnold's Sandwich thin. I had warmed up some chicken tortilla soup but only had two bites I wasn't that hungry. I did have some watermelon. About 3:30 I had some chicken salad on Flips. Not a good choice. Flips are not point friendly but we didn't have any Wheat thins. Supper was suppose to be Roast Beef, however I forgot to put it in the crock pot!!! OOPS!! We will have left over turkey!!!
Here is the pattern for the weekend. I do not like to eat when I get up, so I have a few bites of something. Then I workout and have to shower before I can eat. By this time I am super hungry and I want to eat whatever is closet. NOT Good!! I need to teach myself to eat little things on the go if I have to!!! The good thing about all of this is that I weighed myself today at I am at the same weight as Friday. So after a crappy weekend, I am still the same!!! I tend to weigh everyday, not healthy. My goal is to weigh everyday until Wed which will be a week since I started Shred. I am then going to have my husband literally hide the scale!!!!!!!

Day 2- Ending with a question
Day Two of the Shred is complete!! Along with the Shred I did 30 minutes on the treadmill at the gym. I wanted to run, but recently I have had these weird dizzy spells or feeling of being off balanced. The dr can't seem to find anything wrong but let me tell you something is off. I couldn't run because of this. Who knows what is up with that, at least I walked, I was at a 12 incline and a 4.2 speed, I had to hang on for all of it because of the balance. The main goal was to get it done and I did.
My food was pretty on track. I am trying to count calories and use ww points. It appears I use all my points before I use all my calories. This is just plain confusing for me. I will track it for a few more days and see if it continues to be the same.
Last night I went to bed and I was fine, I tossed and turned for a few hours and then all of a sudden I was starving. What is up with that? I wanted so bad to get up and eat something but the thought of having to get up and walk down a flight of stairs must have deterred me!! I must confess I am having a Dt Dew. It was either have a pop or the munchies. Why, for me it is a habit to snack on something most of the night. A little here a little there. This was a better alternative.
Tomorrow scares the crap out of me. I have to work 16 hours 7am-11pm. I really want to do the Shred before going to work, but since I am a creature of habit I will probably set the alarm and not get up. I know how can you commit to something then do that? If I don't get up I will walk on my breaks at work, I will get 4 half hours so I should be able to get some walking in, provided there is a place to do it. For those of you that don't know me I work at a jail, so if it is nice the inmates will rec outside, then I can use the gym, if it is crappy out, I will have to figure something else out. The food thing scares me for tomorrow as well. I have planned out what I will take for the whole day. However sometimes this job is so boring, boring gets the best of me and I find some crap to eat. You see we also have access to a kitchen and coolers of food 24-7 when we are there. They make a lot of cookies and sweets and BREAD!! I love bread!!
I want to control this. I will have to avoid the dining room at all costs after 6, if my co-workers are in there I will have to pull them out and go talk somewhere else. They will love me. hahha
I will end this with a question? Why is it that we work our butts off at the gym because we know it is good for us? But when we eat we tend to eat crap and make bad choices when it comes to food? Our bodies are machines, would we put oil in a gas tank? No, Would we put gas in a diesel engine? No, We know they won't run or if they do it won't be for long. So why do we put crap in our bodies? They are machines and just like cars they don't run on the wrong fuel!!!!

Day 1
I think I just might make it through this day!!! I stayed on track with eating and journaled my food. After work I did the Shred DVD then hit the gym for 65 minutes on the elliptical!! I haven't found the instructions for my heart rate monitor yet so I am not sure how many calories I burnt doing the DVD. I did get my heart rate up!!! I have had 36oz of water so far!! I have NOT had a Dt Mt Dew today!!!!! I am hoping to get my pictures and measurements posted my the weekend for sure!!!!!

READY SET GO
Tomorrow is my "big day". I think I am ready. I have my food planned out to take to work with me. I have points left to have some supper after I do my workouts. Yes, feeling really good. I still need to find the instructions for my HRM so that I can try to set it so that it will calculate the calories I burn when working out. I always use the machines for a guideline. Since I will be doing the 30 Day Shred DVD I would like to know roughly how many calories I am burning. I still have to go to the gym during this 30 day challenge. Have to get my 12 workouts in to get the insurance discount!!!!
My plan will be to do the DVD first then hit the gym right after. After all I will be all sweaty, why shower twice!!! haha
Tomorrow my food will consist of a Blueberry smoothie for breakfast made with the Greek blueberry yogurt, fresh blueberries and skim milk, it comes out to 6pts, but the yogurt is higher in protein. A tuna burger on a deli flat, a slim fast bar, dried apples and cherry tomatoes!!!
Ready, Set, Go!!!!!

Preparing for Sept 1st!
As I stated in my last post I am starting with a clean slate on Sept 1st!!! I want to be better at healthy eating and exercise. I can do it, I will be prepared!!!
What have I done to prepare, where should I start? For some reason I am getting my beer fix out of the way. I have drank beer the last 8 nights in a row and I am sure I will have some tonight. Am I proud of this, not really, but it's not like it has been a case a night, more like 3-4. There was Shantel's wedding, time with friends and family and then Woodbury days.
Then there is the food, we have some chips and crap left from the trip so I have been finishing that up!! This would also include the bag of chex mix.
So that is the bad part of preparing for Wednesday the 1st!! Here is the good part, I bought a couple new workout outfits ( wouldn't have had to if the others fit better), I bought a 90- day food and fitness journal, that means that I have to track what I eat and what my workouts are like. It even has a place for strength training, how many reps and pounds!!! Truly needed that!!!!. I have been trying to plan out some meals. I hate this part, I am not good at it. I will forge on with that. My plan it to follow the Weight Watchers plan with all the information I already have and not rejoin.
My downfall is breakfast I hate eating so early!!!! I am thinking smoothies will be the way to go or a protein bar. I would skip it all together if I wasn't in the " eat healthy mode". I am also going to try and give up Dt Mt Dew. I didn't even buy any yesterday when I was at the store.
What I did buy when I was there was an eggplant. I have no idea how to cook it or what it tastes like but I will soon find out. I am hoping to hit the farmers market at the Y tomorrow. I want to get some apples!!! Sweet Sixteen's or Connell Reds are my all time favorite!!!!!!
I have also found a blog http://www.livesmilerun.com.She is doing a 30 day challenge with Jillian Micheal's 30 day shred. I went to Target yesterday to checkout/buy the DVD and left without even looking at it. That was my whole purpose of going there, I did get my other stuff though. I will go back today. I really want to do the challenge, I am just not good with DVD's or commitment like that. I can get myself to the gym daily but that is somehow different for me. I do know that I need to change it up so this might be just what I need!!!! I need to decide soon, she will post me as a participant if I do!!!!
I also plan to blog daily even if it is just two lines, i think it will help me!!! Off to Target and to plan some meals for the week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vacation
We leave for vacation tomorrow!!! Exciting!! I did not meet my goal to lose anymore weight before the wedding. Am I happy about this? No not really. However the scale has stayed the same and I am happy about that. I look at the Prior Fat Girls blogs everyday. They make some great points as do the people who leave comments. It is so nice to be able to relate with other people, along with that it is nice that people can put that personal information out there for the world to see.
My goal for Sept 1st, (I return to work on Aug 30) is to start the month out right. I don't want to do things half ass anymore. I already workout 4-5 times a week but I hardly ever do weights. I NEED TO ADD THIS IN, ISN'T IT OBVIOUS THAT WHAT I AM DOING IS NOT WORKING!!!!!! I also really need to plan my meals. I know this works for me, but I get lazy!! Come on what else do I have to do that takes up so much of my time? NOTHING!! I would really like to write down everything that I eat, but for some reason that overwhelms me. Why? I don't know. Believe me it is not because I make a bad choice and would have to write it down, I tell people all the crap I eat. What I do is workout really hard and then think I am hungry and eat whatever I want. After all I did just workout!!! So when I bust my ass for an hour or and hour and half doing cardio I eat up every calorie I burned in about 15-20 minutes!!!!!! Does this make sense. Of course it doesn't!!!!!! One would think I would have learned by now not to do this. NOT!!! I think September will be a very good learning month for me!!!!

9 in a row
I have been to the gym 9 days in a row!!! Hoo-ray Hoo-ray!!! I wish we weren't going home next week so that I could continue on this path!! Tonight when I was working out I ran into one of the instructors from the Y, she teaches at both gyms. She said hi and started to leave. She turned around and said " Why haven't I seen you in Body Combat yet" Me, " it scares me" She said " it's not that bad, you can do it,it is a full body workout" then she adds that she is teaching on Sunday at 4:15.
I did tell her that I would try and come on Sunday so that is my goal to actually GO!!!! It will be nice to change up my routine a bit anyway. I did go to Body Pump on Monday, it was a good workout, hadn't been there in a long time. I did 65 minutes on the elliptical tonight and then some weight machines. My eating has been on track for the most part. I did have Arby's yesterday, not the best choice but not the worst! I need to find a way for the scale to move this week, it seems to be stuck AGAIN!!!!
Ok I am not one to judge bigger people when they work out, good for them to be doing something, however I do seem to judge what they wear. Tonight this very large lady was biking, she had on lime green stretch pants that you could totally see through, granny panties and all, by all that would mean fat rolls, dimples and whatever else. I am so sorry for judging this lady but really, those are not the pants for you. Honestly I almost threw up!!!

I have been doing pretty good with eating and working out since Tuesday. I am really working hard on portion control and trying to eat more fruits and veggies. I have had Lean Cuisines for lunch the past couple of days. Last night for supper I made myself a Tuna Burger. It was really good, I will definitely have it again. Of course I had to downsize the recipe a little but it worked just fine. I used a 2.6 pkg of plain tuna, I crushed 2 pieces of low fat bread, I put in a few sprinkles of shredded cheese and about a teaspoon of lite 3 cheese ranch dressing. Now the egg that was hard I put it in a bowl and spooned in just a little. I knew I needed it to make it stick together. I did not put onion or olives in. I did cook it in olive oil but next time I think I will just spray the pan with Pam. I did not use all the bread crumbs I made. Mine made 2 small burgers which I ate with no bun, tomato slices, and red and yellow pepper strips. I also finished some green beans that I had at lunch. I added a half a wedge of laughing cow cheese. That stuff does not melt!!!!
Bolder Burgers
Ingredients:2 (4.5 oz.) pouches StarKist Tuna Creations®, Herb & Garlic
1 cup bread crumbs, divided
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup non-fat ranch salad dressing
1/4 cup sliced green onion
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 tbsp. olive oil Directions:
Combine Tuna Creations®, 1/2 cup bread crumbs, cheese, salad dressing, green onion and egg in medium bowl; mix well. Form into four patties; coat each side with remaining 1/2 cup bread crumbs. Heat oil in non-stick skillet over medium heat. Cook patties 3 to 5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Serves: 4
I did go to the DQ last night and to my surprise they now have a mini blizzard. I am guessing it is about 8oz, it comes in a small cup that looks similar to a Styrofoam coffee cup. It was the perfect size. I don't know the calories, I am sure it is still high but at least you have a smaller option now. I figured it was ok to have that since I had had a yogurt for breakfast 110 cal, a LC for lunch 290 cal, half a can of green beans 30 cal a cup of grapes, whatever they are and then the tuna burger for supper, which I know that the pack of tuna was 80 cals. Not sure about the bread and dressing but all in all I didn't have that many calories for the day. I did 40 min on the elliptical and did a half hour of boxing when I got home.
I will do well as long as I can not eat everything in site when I get home from work!!! That is my downfall!! I had a goal of 10lbs before Shantel's wedding, at this point that would be 5lbs a week. For me I an not sure that is doable but I will stick with what I am doing and be happy for whatever the scale says unless it goes up!! haha

For me I an not sure that is doable but I will stick with what I am doing and be happy for whatever the scale says unless it goes up!! haha

Round 3
This is the 3rd week of the boxing class and I must say it is quite the workout!! At the same time it is frustrating. The flyer said the class was geared to everyone. I would beg to differ on that one. The instructor goes so fast it is hard to get the form and moves down. Oh well I guess as long as you keep moving!! One more week. I did learn that jumping rope is one of the best resistant workouts out there, or so she says, try doing it for 3 minutes straight and you must just agree!!!
As far as my eating for the last two weeks, I will have to say it was crappy. The more I try to do good sometimes the more I fail. I really need to increase my water intake. I found this water recipe and made it. It is refreshing over ice.
1/2 cucumber
1 knuckle ginger(I used powered stuff, I just dumped it in I would guess a teaspoon at least)
1/2 cup mint leaves or 2 mint tea bags steeped
1 lemon juiced
1 gallon water.
Peel ginger and cucumber, puree all ingredients together in food processor mix with water let it sit overnight in frig, strain into another container or water bottles. Refridge unused portions up to two days.
I used a handful of fresh mint and 2 mint green tea tea bags. I had to strain mine through a dish towel to get the floaties out of it. Worked like a charm!!!!
I will try to do better this coming week. I still have a goal to lose 10lbs before Shantel's wedding on the 21st of Aug. It is attainable if I try hard enough. I found this quote and I really like it. " Are you fit company for the person you want to become"

Boxing
Tonight I will take my 1st boxing class at the gym. It is a 4 week class for 45 minutes!! It is taught by one of the group fitness instructors who also happens to be a armature golden glove!! The class is limited to 12 so I am sure it will be a "workout". I have always had an interest in kickboxing/boxing but I have no coordination and can not for the life of me do a boxer shuffle. This could be interesting!! I am hoping to burn some calories and have a little fun. I am at at a standstill with weight loss, however I must say I did not gain over the 4th which was very impressive since I drank a "few" beers!! I just don't know what to do. Ok actually I do it is called more weights. I really want to start going to Body Pump at least 2 times a week but it seems I have a messed up work schedule for the rest of the summer. By that I mean doing double shifts and having time off. The time off part is good but not from an exercise point of few. When I am off, we usually have company or are going somewhere so no time to workout!!! Starting on Monday the 12th I really want to focus on having a good week of eating and working out.
What does that mean. PLAN!!! Plan what you are going to eat. I stayed away from the Smart Ones and Lean Cuisines for awhile but I am going to go back to eating them. They might have alot of sodium but they are portion, calorie and fat controlled. At this point that is what I need. Have a little sodium in a prepacked meal or grab the chips when I come home. What is the difference? The prepacked meal is PORTIONED!!!! Actually we don't buy chips anymore unless we are going on a trip or have people coming over!
I will post about the boxing class later tonight if I don't die, or Saturday since I just happen to be working 16 hours again tomorrow.
Next Thursday I am having a Eco Cardio stress test done. I have been experiencing some dizziness when working out, mostly on the treadmill, it feels like I have a buzz on when I am running. Ha ha I know what you are thinking!! I do not drink before working out. Today the Dr checked my blood pressure 5 different times and did a hearing test, both appear to be normal, so this was the next step. She did tell me that I can continue to workout as long as I do it at the gym or with someone so that was good news. Don't want to be side lined there!!!

It will be ok!
I gained weight when we were back in ND, I went to the gym and worked it off and then some!! Wow I was impressed. Then came company!! I did manage to hit the gym 2times last week, which for me was horrible but at least it was something. I didn't really eat bad, we just snacked alot. Ok maybe some consider snack eating bad, I really don't however I know that I ate more in a day of snacking than I would have if I would have just had meals. So the pounds that I gained in ND came off plus one more, but the snacking from this "vacation" brought it all right back on. Honestly I didn't even drink that much beer, only a couple on Friday and Saturday. I did go to the gym tonight and did 30 minutes on the elliptical and then did Body Pump!! I am sure I will be sore tomorrow. It will be well worth it when the scale goes down again. I really need to start drinking water. I bet I had 2 glasses of water all weekend. That is bad!!! I know with the 4th coming that weight loss might not be within my reach for the week, but I am ok with that. We only have a 4th of July once a year!!!

Thirsty Thursday!!
I went to the gym tonight and did 50 minutes on the treadmill then did 50 minutes on the elliptical. The kicker is that I don't drink any water when I workout, only when I am done. By the end of the elliptical I was dying for a drink. I have tried drinking during my workouts but I always get a side-ache or a stomach-ache. I get them even if I take small sips. So on the way home I drank a bottle of water, and I am now having a protein shake made with water, sort of tastes like watered down chocolate milk. I would love to find a protein drink that didn't have a weird after taste!!! I did gain 1.5lbs when I was on vacation but I am hopeful that with my good workout tonight and the little bit of food I ate today that I can get it to come off. I did have some chex mix today after work but all I had before that was half a yogurt and half a protein bar for breakfast, a peanut butter and banana sandwich for lunch and some fruit. A banana for a snack and a lite ham sand on a lite bun with a wedge of laughing cow cheese, before I headed to the gym. I have only had about 3 drinks of a Dt Dew as well. My goal was to drink 32oz of water today at work, well my water bottle was still half full when I dumped it out before I left. Sometimes I love water and other times I hate it!! You can bet tonight I will drink a ton of it and be up all night going to the bathroom, that is the way it always works!!!

Vacation
We are leaving on Friday for vacation, yes, I call a trip back home vacation. I know that I won't get any workouts in, so my hope is that the scale just stays the same. I have been having really good hour long workouts since the beginning of the month. One day I will run/walk the next day I will elliptical. I have been changing the resistance and incline every minute on the elliptical when I get bored. It seems to keep me on track, but it is hard. Have you ever tried doing a minute on a 15 incline and 15 resistance? Hard, but hard work pays off. I have also been trying to do weights each night when I go. I may only do 3 sets on 3 machines but that is a start!! I just want the pounds to continue to come off. I am no where near the rate of those on the Biggest Loser but slow and steady will keep it off longer, if not forever.

Still on track!!
This week I am still on track to attain the goal of going to the gym 5 times and eating good. On Monday after I posted the neighbor did show up and we went for a 4 mile walk. Prior to her coming I had been boxing, I did that for about 45 minutes!! That was a "workout" day I will say!! Tuesday I did not go to the gym I worked until 8pm. Wednesday I went and I did 65 minutes on the elliptical. I started at incline 10 and resistance 5 and worked my way up to resistance 15!!! That was a very hard workout!! Lots of calories burned there. I did a little bit of strength training as well. Tonight I did 5.5 miles on the treadmill in 60 minutes!! Not bad for not doing that many miles in a long time. I ran the 1st two non-stop then I would alternate between running and walking at an incline. My heart rate stayed between 160-180. I got home and felt like I was going to throw up. I think that happens because I can't drink water when I workout so when I am done I tend to drink it way to fast!! I will have to work on that!!

Time to kick it in high gear!!
Summer rolls around and I am not ready, my shorts are still to tight!! Time to get busy and get myself movin'. I went to the gym today with the intention of just running, however I saw the sign that said they were having body pump at 10:15. I ran for 2 miles straight with out stopping in 21 minutes!!! Then hit the studio. It was a good workout. I had not been to body pump in a very LONG time, so we will see what tomorrow brings. Sore body parts I am sure. I was suppose to go walking with the neighbor who is training for the Breast Cancer 3 Day, she said 5 or 5:30 and it is almost 7, so I think something might have come up for her. Next time!!! Jackie wants me to run a half marathon in Bismarck Sept 18th. If I start training now I would be able to do it, or at least the training plan says I should be able to it!!!!!! Still tossing the idea around. It is a huge commitment!! Plus you train 7 days a week, with summer here that could be a little hard. I will see what I can do!!!!!! Since the new Month is starting, I will shoot for a week of good eating and getting to the gym at least 5 times!!!!!

No gym, yet weight loss.
Ok I haven't been good about posting on here for the past 2 weeks. Along with that I have not been good at going to the gym. I went for the 1st time last week on Saturday and the first time this week was today. I somehow managed to lose 2 lbs!! Which brings me to a total of 7 I think. I will move my tape and find out! I have a dr appointment tomorrow and I am hoping that she has some in site as to why I am not losing more weight. I hardly eat anymore, usually one meal a day. It doesn't lead to weight loss but it does give me a horrible headache. I am just not hungry. I am interested to see tomorrow what the Cortisol (not sure if that is how you spell it) test results show. That is what causes you to gain weight in the stomach area. My luck it will be normal, which would be good but not explain things. I am hoping to get back into a gym routine next week starting Wednesday. I am off Monday but have to do 16 hours on Tuesday so the "good" routine will have to start Wednesday!!!

My Week one of the Detox
I had a pretty good week, I am down 3.5lbs, I will take that number, anything that goes down is now a very good friend of mine. I ate regular food this weekend because Skyler and Mona were here. I did try to limit the carbs and control the portions. I was doing well until today when my friends told me at the last minute that we were going to go to Applebee's to meet up with one of our co-workers who is out sick, with Lupus and possible cancer. How can I pass up seeing her. I can't however I could have passed up the two beers and chicken wings that I had. Honestly I didn't really want the wings but hey they were half price so why not. Turns out mine were not half price. 17.02 for 2 beers and wings!!! Bet that 3.5lbs finds it's way back!! It is my own fault I do stupid shit like that. I will get back on track tomorrow and not dwell on it. I had a really good first week. Now if I can just remember how to move my ticker!!!!

Starting off good!!
I like Gym Girl am trying to follow the 4 week detox plan. I did really well the first day and only added 3 wasa crackers, a piece of sting cheese and a laughing cow wedge. I did have a small and I am talking small piece of Sydney's birthday cake as well. Yesterday I deviated from the plan, I ended up working 16 hours so I was not prepared for the night meal. I had a very little bit of Spanish rice with a very small amount of refried beans mixed in. All together it probably wasn't even a cup. I have weighed myself daily as that is what I have always done, I will post my total results for the week on Monday. Along with this detox plan, now known to be as healthy choices I am taking a prescription weight loss med called phentrimine, I think that is how you spell it. It seems to help and I am not hungry so that it good. Unfortunately for me I started the pill on Sunday and the detox on Monday so not sure how I will gauge which one made me lose the weight. Hey, wait a minute I don't give a crap which one did it I am just glad it is starting to come off!!!!! I worked out today. I had to have a blood draw for the Cushing's Disease at 9am, I took my pill in the car on the way to the gym. I knew I needed to eat something before I worked out so I had a 50 calorie piece of string cheese. I did 65 minutes on the elliptical, which was 5.45 miles and 715 calories!! I have a hot stone massage at 5:30 today, time to relax from all that hard work!!! Actually I am a little nervous about the hot stone as to how it will feel. I have heard that they can hurt from the heat. It is also 90 minutes!!! I really need to get back on track with this blog!!! Sorry!!

Tough times!
After reading Gym Girls post I better kick my workouts in gear. I may never move up to dancing however!!! I have an appointment next week (Tuesday, get to use a sick day for work, yes) with an Endocrinologist!! Let's see if my hormones are my problem!! We are also going to Gold's Gym on Friday for a tour, I was there today to check it out and liked what I saw. We will go on Friday for Pat to check it out. It has some advantages over the Y. NO KIDS!! They do have a kids center but it isn't "family orientated" like the Y. They also have an all women's weight room, the Les Mills classes, which is what Body Pump is and they have a boxing one! They also have better hours!! Of course they try to sell you on personal training, so I might have myself a new trainer for a month or so!! Maybe changing gyms and getting a trainer is just the change I need. Oh and at Gold's Sydney would be able to use the equipment. At the Y you have to be 15 to use the treadmills and elliptical. For the grand finale it is CHEAPER!!! So we will see. I also talked to Joy today she is the body pump instructor at the Y, one of them anyway. She is also the coach of the Momsontherun.com for Woodbury. She was super excited that I was interested in it and after talking to her I would really like to do it!! She said that everyone starts out walking and you work your way up to running by interval training!!! She did confirm to me that running on the treadmill is nothing like running outside!! Glad to hear as I thought I was crazy because I could do one and not the other!! I am looking forward to Saturday when I along with Gym Girl and my friend Bea attend the weight lifting class at one of the other gyms here in Woodbury!!! Where can you get and hour and a half of information for 15 bucks!!! I am sure we will be able to take some sort of information away from there!!!
Ok I said I learned my lesson on weight loss supplements (being sick and throwing up the whole day) but of course today when I took the dreaded DREN back I found something else I wanted to try. It is a natural appetite suppressant!! There is only like 3 ingredients in it if I remember correctly, one is pine nuts!! They had to order it but the guy seemed to think that it would be a good one!!! Honestly I think he was being serious and not just trying to sell me something!! I will defiantly try it on my day off when I get it. It was only $21 something. (I know I am a sucker). I really need these things to be the changes that shake things up for me and put me on the path to weight loss. I unlike Gym girl, almost cry every time I have to look in my closet and find something to wear!! ( This includes my work uniform) As an inspiration for myself I did buy a couple of new workout shirts today!!!! I wanted some capri workout pants for the class on Saturday but I am to short for those, they look DUMB!!! Be looking for big changes to come from this girl!!!!

What to do?
I e-mailed my dr for some weight loss advice and all I get out of her is to try taking the over the counter diet pill Alli, this from a dr? Are you kidding me? I am going to pass on that, If I want a piece of pizza I don't want to have to know where the nearest bathrooms are on my 10 minute car ride home. Won't work for this girl, been there, done that, not to be repeated!!! I am going to look for a different dr and see what they have to say! Until then I will watch what I eat and exercise!! Gotta love it!!
On a positive note this weekend I made Turkey chili and froze it, and meatballs, which as I am posting I am making rice so that I can mix with the meatballs, and some salsa for a delectable lunch tomorrow!! I also cooked the chicken up for the enchiladas we had tonight!!! Sure made making supper a piece of cake. Oh I made Angel food cake this weekend as well. Along with all this I cleaned veggies, sweet peppers, pea pods and I have a jicima to cut up!!! I think I am really going to try and make things on the weekends so that they are all ready to go during the week!! Healthy and fast gotta love that!! The recipe for the Chicken Enchiladas is on the Skinnyweek.com site. I have also become a fan of the Yoplait smoothies. They are in the freezer section kind of spendy, $3 something but it will make 2 8oz glasses and all you have to do is add a cup of skim milk. I have been making them for breakfast and adding some protein powder!!! I also tried making "Skittles" you pour sugar free dry jello on top of red grapes and freeze!!! I think you have to "savor" them to get them to taste like a skittle!! Sydney and I like them. Skinnyweek.com once again! Last "goodie" for the weekend that I found was Skinny Cow Strawberry Cheesecake icecream in a single serve container. 150 calories and I think it is 2 ww points. They have different flavors as well, got them at Cub for $1.00!!!! It was a productive weekend!!!!

What option should I choose?
I am so fricking frustrated with my weight loss right now I could just scream. I put all this hard work in at the gym and do a pretty good job of monitoring what I eat and still no loss!!!! Here is a super big kicker. I finished the Get Fit program at the Y!! Here are the results!!!!!! Wait for it............... I GAINED 6LBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am not even kidding you. It was suppose to be lose 10lbs in 10 weeks, I guess I shot that theory right out of the water!!!! Oh it gets better. I LOST INCHES AND MY BODY FAT WENT DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now normally that would be something to be thankful and grateful for, but how can I when my clothes don't fit any better and the number on the scale went up!!!!!!!!!!!!! If purging wasn't so bad for your teeth I think I would try it!! The coach is seriously at a loss with me, she is baffled. Welcome to the club!!!
Jackie signed up to run a 10k in May the half marathon was to much in to short of a time. Guess who needs to sign up next???????
I am going to take my short vacation have fun and try and decide what my next plan of attack is going to be!!!! What "new" diet thing will I spend my money on next LOL!!! I think I will come up with a "Shelia Harper plan that will work" "Lose 6 dress sizes in 6 weeks", " Go from a size 14 to a size 4 in just a few months" I might as well try and make some money off this deal, everyone else is!!!

Rain Rain Go Away
I just looked at my last post and it was over 2 weeks ago, not good. I really have a hard time going to the gym when it is rainy and icky out. We were gone over the weekend so no gym those days. I went on Monday in the morning and had a great workout then back on Monday night for my class. Honestly I must say that class is one of the biggest wastes of 99.00 that I have ever spent on weight loss and exercise. The class is totally not what they make it out to be, there is suppose to be 8 people in the class and the only night there were 8 was the very 1st night. Since then it has been about 4 or 3. 3 people have lost weight the most is a 5lb loss the rest just 2 and 3 and myself a big fat 0!!!! I did tell the trainer I was disappointed in the class. Of course they want to sell you training packages to get you on the right track, but sorry I am going to have to pass!!! We did get a kettle bell and TRX demonstration and got to do both. I think I could really learn to LOVE kettle bells. It is a combination of cardio and strength so that is good. Guess what you have to pay extra for both of these classes!!! I might consider kettle bells in the future. The difference with those and dumb bells is how the weight is proportioned. Makes sense. I am still waiting for Paul to mail me my plan that he worked out for me. Hopefully he will get it to me my the end of the week.
My plan is to have good workouts this weekend!!! It is suppose to be nice out so maybe I can even get a walk in outside!!!!!
As far as eating, I hate that part!! I will try to keep on track, I need to drink more water that is for sure!!! I really want to move my ticker tape!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rethinking the plan
I put my ticker tape on my page so that I could see it move!!! Noticed it hasn't moved!!! Pisses me off! I worked out with Paul this past weekend and I am now just waiting for him to send me the plan that he comes up with. I did most of the things he showed me at the gym tonight and did 40 minutes on the elliptical. I know that I don't have the best eating habits but it is like I told my Get Fit coach, I am eating within my calorie range, I just don't make the best choices to get there. Starting tomorrow, Thursday February 25th I am going to try and not drink dt mt dew. Doesn't sound like much but for me this is a huge trigger to eat, have a pop, have to eat is like my slogan. I haven't had that much water the past few days either. I have also decided that I am going to start signing up for over time at work. My problem time is right after work, I don't eat much during the day so at 3 when I get home I think I need to eat everything in sight. I stayed at work today and got a half hour of ot then went to a union meeting until 4. When I got home I had a stomachache but that didn't stop me from polishing off a bag of cheetos, no, not a big bag but the 99 cent one. Stupid because I knew these would make me get the runs, always do, and they did. Now that I am feeling really guilty and my stomach is empty I will go to the gym. I think it is my brain that is miss firing not my glute's. Why do I do such stupid shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ready for more stupid crap, I worked out, then went to caribou for a caramel high rise, only a small one, not that it makes a difference. My brain must have been shut off when I pulled that stunt!!! Honestly I am sick of having negative posts and sick of not seeing results. So let me let tomorrow be my big day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has to be good my boss is on vacation!!!!!!!!! BTW, I am officially out of the crap food that I like to snack on, that should help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Training Zones
We are on week 5 of the Get Fit program at the Y. This should be very exciting as it is the half way point. Well, let me tell you it is not. I haven't lost any weight doing the program. I put my food into the Vitabot system and do my workouts like I am suppose to. Well almost since I was sick for almost 2 weeks I didn't really work out nor did I eat that much and guess what? I still did not lose weight.
On Monday we learned about interval training and heart rate zones. We did a little test of these on the treadmills. She told us to walk at a pace where we could walk for a long time. I chose 4.0, she said that was to fast for me so I slowed it down to 3.7. We did this for about 5 minutes. She then had us increase the speed or incline to where we could still walk but it was a little harder, I put it at 4.0 we stayed there for 5 minutes, then we increased it again for 5 minutes, I did 5.5, lastly she had us go as hard as we could for 30 seconds I did 7.5. It was hard to judge our heart rates because the machines wouldn't measure it on the hand things they have and we didn't have heart rate monitors (I forgot mine at home). So she based it on our exertion level. For me it seemed that I did work harder than what I do when I stay at a steady pace. Maybe this is the missing piece for me. Maybe my body is so used to what I normally do when I do cardio that I don't see any results. LET'S HOPE THIS IS IT!!! Tonight I did intervals on the treadmill and have watched what I have eaten so far this week. I am hoping for some sort of movement on the scale on Monday.
On another workout note. I am going to be trained by a great trainer this weekend!! No, it is not Bob Harper, but a close second. Paul Holm!!!! I am hoping he has some fun workouts that will shake these pounds off!!! I want to be able to move my ticker tape you know!!!!!
One other thing I learned at the gym is that you always see people crank up the incline and hang on while walking, I do this all the time. This is unrealistic, you should go at a lower speed and higher incline and not hold on. As our "trainer Darlene' said " what hill are you ever going to walk that has a rope or something else for you to hang on to"? Good point!!!! Light bulb just came on!!
Not seeing results
I must say I don't know what is wrong with me, I am just not seeing results in this weight loss adventure that I am on. I ask myself daily, "what am I doing wrong"? The first week of the Get Fit program we weighed in, the 2nd week I stayed the same with my weight, the 3rd week I went up 2lbs and this week I was down 1/2 pound. In week 3 my whole group was feeling the same dis-satisfaction that I was and we all seemed to be discouraged. After all, they are promoting 10lbs in 10 weeks. This week, there were only 3 of us at the meeting out of the 8 that started. 2 of us were discouraged and the 3rd lady was the inspirational one telling us to give it time. I shared my frustrations, the trainer said that I have killer workouts but I am not eating enough!! Are you really kidding me. I have been putting all my foods into the diary even when we eat out and I drink beer and I think there has only been once that I have gone over the calorie allowance. I can have between 1385-1885 calories a day. I was staying on the lower end but she told me I have to try and get on the high end for this week. Not a good week to try, I was cautious on Monday to stay on the low end, Tuesday I was sick, and today I still don't feel the best and had a crappy day at work. Normally when I have a crappy day I eat, today I didn't want anything. Weird!!! My boss told me to have a beer tonight and let things blow over, great I don't have any and I am far to lazy to go get some. Good thing or I would be calling in sick tomorrow. haha!!! I know there is no quick and easy weight loss solution but come on can I just have a sign that the adventure will get better. How about a 3lb loss for the week, or at this point I would even take one!! Next week is the half way point and all I have done is gain 1.5lbs!!! Not what I was hoping for!

Week one of Get Fit
I love this!! So I had to post it.
I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best." Marilyn Monroe...
On to the purpose to this post. I started the Get Fit at the Y on January 11th. It is a lot of work tracking all your foods into their computer program, but you can learn alot so hopefully it will pay off. I didn't realize that we had to weigh in each week, so that is another plus. I did not lose any weight the first week but I did not gain any either so that is a plus. What I learned about my food is that I eat way to much salt/sodium. The RDA is 1500mg, some days I was 4000-5000mg. This is NOT GOOD. That seemed to be the consensus with the whole group. This week one of our tasks is to monitor sodium more and try to get all "A's" for the week. Yes, this program grades you. One of our other tasks was to take a mind/body class. yoga? Are you kidding me? I sucked it up last night and took the Body Flow class it is a combination of Tai Chi, yoga and Pilate's, with relaxation and meditation at the end. The instructor made me be in the front of the class, I almost left. I found that I actually enjoyed it and will try to continue to go. The only thing that I HATED was I had to use one of their mats and the fact that bare feet had been on it prior to me totally grossed me out. You have to take your shoes and socks off for this class, which is just gross to me. I HATE FEET!!!!!! I will have to invest in a cheap mat.
Last night was a LONG night at the gym, I did the Body Flow from 5:30-6:30 then did 20 minutes on the elliptical then did Body Pump from 7:10-8:10. I was so ready to come home. Might I add that in the Body Flow class their was a lady that was 9 months pregnant, hoping to have the baby any day and in Body Pump the instructor was 8 months pregnant. What, are you kidding me? This just goes to show these classes can be done by anyone!!!!!!

Huge Reality check!!!
Last night I had a date night with my husband. We went to a movie and out for a bite to eat. I had went to the gym before we went out. I got in 30 minutes on the elliptical which was a little over 350 calories burned. I was suppose to go to Body Pump , but that didn't happen. I came home showered and much to my dismay, tried to find something to wear. After 2 pair of jeans, which were rather tight I choose to wear the jeans that have some stretch in them for more room. I hate these jeans!!!! Yet I had no choice, the others would have been way to uncomfortable to sit through a movie. That should be a wake-up call!!!! It was but since we were at the movie how was I to pass up the popcorn with extra butter and the hamburger and fries we ate after the show. Then a quick stop at Wal-mart where I grabbed a bag of peanut m&m's, why yes, it was the "big bag" for a buck!! When we got home I thought " wouldn't a beer be great with these". So I had a beer. To my disappointment it did not taste that good, nor did the m&m's. I finished the whole beer and only half the m&m's. "Like that should be a plus". Off to bed to dream about all my bad choices for the day.
Saturday, I am up the sun is out and I am geared for a great day. So far I have went to the gym, I did 25 minutes on the elliptical and then off to body pump, wow, that was another reality check. OUCH!! Done with the gym, off to tan and a massage at 4.
I have put in all my foods that I have eaten so far today for my Get Fit plan as well.
I am, even if I have to padlock the cupboards shut going to finish out my day eating what I am suppose to!!!
Here is a recipe that I made the other night. Italian Pizza Bake
1/3cup Bisquick- heart smart mix
2Tbsp Fat-free egg product or 1 egg white
1Tbsp water
1/8 tsp garlic powder
1/4 cup diced green or yellow peppers
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup cooked chicken breast
1/2 can diced tomatoes with Italian herbs, drained
1/4 tsp Italian seasoning
1/4 cup shredded reduced fat mozzarella cheese
Heat oven to 400 spray 8x4 loaf pan. Stir Bisquick, egg, water and garlic powder, spread in pan
Cook pepper and onion , stir in chicken, tomatoes and seasoning, heat until hot. Spread over batter in pan
sprinkle with cheese. Bake 20-23 minutes or until golden brown, loosen from sides of pan
2 servings, 1 serving half the recipe= 200 calories, 6g Fat, 35mg cholesterol and 490mg of sodium
Of course I had to adjust this so my family would eat it so here goes. First I don't know where you get a loaf pan this size so I used a regular loaf pan so I doubled the crust mixture, I left out the peppers, and onions. I used about 1/2 cup spaghetti sauce instead of the can tomatoes. I also used fat-free mozzarella cheese.
It was really good. I doubled the crust so that it would cover the bottom of the pan, you might not need to as it rises, which I did not realize. So ours was sort of like a deep dish pizza crust. We cut it into 4 slices (like you would cut meatloaf) we each had one and there was one left over. Obviously changing a few things changes the nutritional info, but it still was a good healthy meal. I would try putting some sort of vegetable in it next time maybe, Spinach for me or corn for my family!!!

What to do?
Since my last post I have eaten so-so and have went to the gym 3 times, I am ok with this.
This is my newest hang-up. For the last few days I have been searching through cookbooks to find healthy things to make. I am not opposed to trying new things, however my family is a different story. I want to stay away from pasta if I can, yet I can't seem to find recipes with things that they will eat that doesn't include pasta or rice. They will eat pasta but not rice.
I don't want to make healthy choices for myself and them just eat whatever, but I get so frustrated trying to figure out what we are going to eat. Shopper Hopper, if you still belong to this blogging community you can be my witness for this dilemma. How many suggestions did you give me for what you would make when we came for Christmas? A bunch, how many would my family eat? ZERO!!!! A big fat ZERO!!!! Help!! What do I do?

Peer Pressure
I gave in to peer pressure of Wednesday night and went to the Green Mill for "just one" beer with 3 of my co-workers. Once again all the money I had with me was $4.00, I can at least get one beer. However Noelle said she would spot me so drink up!! We ordered and the beer was 4.25, what the hell I didn't even have enough money to buy myself my first drink. I ended up staying until 6 and had four beers!!! I had hardly eaten anything at work so I was getting a buzz really fast and I was starving. When I got home I ate crap that I shouldn't have and hit the hay before 9. I am such a dumb ass sometimes I had to get up at 4 to go into work at 5!!! Wednesday was fun, but not on the " healthy plan"!!!
Thursday, I was so tired today, I had some rice with a little gravy at 9:30am and had some chicken salad on half a lite bun and a delite yogurt at 2:00. I had pt today and had to be there at 4. I almost fell asleep waiting for her to call me back. I rode the bike for 3 miles, I think she forgot me on the damn thing. When I left there I had to go straight to the gym. If I didn't I knew I wouldn't go. I did 1.50 miles on the treadmill and 1 on the elliptical. Not much but I was super tired and STARVING!!! You guessed it when I got home I ate crap!!!!
I need to fricking PLAN!!!! I also need to learn to eat on some sort of a schedule. I go way to long in between meals then go ficking hog wild when I see food. Last night and tonight for sure. What is that saying "lack of planning on your part does not constitute and emergency on my part" Well for me lack of planning does constitute and emergency, I lose all control!!!! Plan, Plan, Plan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would kick my own ass if I could reach it!! hee hee
I will try and let this be a lesson and move on!!!!

3am and off to work I go
I really thought today would be horrible. I got the call at 9:30 pm to go into work at 3am. Let's see that is only 4 hours of sleep if I get to bed at 10. WOW!! I took a Special K bar, Weight control oatmeal, Vegetable beef soup that I made, half of a grapefruit, a caramel delite yogurt, and lettuce with the raspberry dressing. This is what I ate, the Special K bar at 6:30am, this is good since I was up at 2. Then at 10:00 I had the soup and the grapefruit. I remembered to take the pills 15 minutes before I ate. I drank 2 32oz waters at work today, very impressive. At 1:30 I had the yogurt delite. When I got home I was so tired, I had some more 'closet eating" flips with a teaspoon of PB, there is only a handful left so the obsession of eating them will be ending!!! I opted not to go to the gym. Not a good choice but I am ok with that. For supper I had a baked potato and 1 chicken strip. I took 2 pills 15 minutes before I ate. We will see what the rest of the night brings. I have had two glasses of water so far tonight as well. I am cold so I will be having a little caramel vanilla tea in a bit. Yummy!!! I feel full right now. Good thing I had the soup to help get those veggies in. Look at that I didn't eat the oatmeal or the lettuce I took today!!!
I am feeling sad, when I got home today I looked at FB and one of the girls I used to work with in Fargo was pregnant with twins. She delivered at 23 weeks I believe it said and the baby girl died 12 hours after birth and the little boy is hanging in there as of now, he was a little over one pound if I remember correctly. Oh so sad!!! Totally puts things into perspective once again!!!

2010- Let it all begin!
Wow, 2010, already? How did it creep up on me so fast? I still have chips, crackers and peanut butter in the cupboard to eat!!!! HA HA. I said that January 3rd was going to be the day to ditch all bad stuff and turn the corner to good heath. Apparently the corner is a very sharp one and I need to do it slowly!! Yes, that would be an excuse!!! Actually I have done fairly good for the last couple of days. I only "closet ate" some flips with peanut butter that I shouldn't have and a handful of peanut M&M's. The crackers are left over from the traveling snack bag and the m&m's were a Christmas gift!!
Yesterday for breakfast I had 2 scrambled eggs and a half of a grapefruit then off to the gym. For lunch I had some lettuce and the other half of the grapefruit. I wasn't going to have anything else but the half of my subway sandwich from Saturday was looking so lonely in the fridge. It was ham and cheese with pickles and black olives, no sauce. So not that bad. I got this awesome cookbook for Christmas, Taste of Home, Guilt Free Cooking. I made some chicken lasagna out of it for supper. It said it was 196 calories for one piece, however I don't know how that can be right when it has fat free cottage cheese, reduced fat Velveeta (no, I did not use this as it was almost 5 bucks), I used reduced fat Mexican cheese and then it has shredded Parmesan cheese in it. Very tasty!!! It says 7grams of fat. Kind of high but so yummy!!! I had a couple handfuls of popcorn before bed.
Monday, I slept in then attempted to eat a Special K blueberry bar, but could only get 2 bites down. I hate eating breakfast, it almost gags me. Wish the rest of the day went that way. HA HA. I went to the gym and had a great workout then came home and had a piece of the Chicken lasagna and a yogurt parfait, the Delights. 100 calories and oh so good. Not like regular yogurt, on sale at cub this week to!!!! I then had the "closet eating? flips and a few drinks of a Dt Dew. What next? The "shits" yes, this is what happens when you "closet eat". My body must have known that I wasn't suppose to eat it!!! Thanks, that should tell me something right there, STOP DOING IT!!!!!! For supper I had a 4oz hamburger on half of a lite bun and a lettuce salad. I bought some fat free raspberry vinaigrette dressing, very good!!!! What is better do you think, fat free or sugar free? They have this dressing in both so I bought fat free, maybe I will try sugar free next time.
Confession, Gym Girl you will laugh at this if I didn't already tell you. I started taking the Jillian pills yesterday and today, just the blue ones. I kept out what I should have used before I returned them. As smart as I would like to think I am I forgot to write down the directions for them. So I only took one blue before breakfast and 2 before supper. You can take 2 before each meal.( found it on the internet) Not sure if I will use the red ones as those made me feel funny before. If I do I will wait until Sunday when I am off work. I will keep you posted on how they work. I just have to remember to take them consistently!!
I haven't decided what I will take for work tomorrow so I will post that tomorrow. I have been trying to drink lots of water and so far so good!! I can't stand having to go the bathroom every 5 minutes, but I guess I will have to get over it!!!
I start the "Get Fit" program at the Y next Monday!!!!
